Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how the independent operator of The Witch's Bakery Wiki at https://thewitchsbakery.online handles information when you browse the site or contact us. Privacy enquiries can be sent to support@thewitchsbakery.online.
Browsing and site search
You can read the guides without creating an account. The site has no visitor registration, checkout or payment form. Search runs in your browser using the site’s downloaded search index; we do not send search terms to an external search engine.
Information handled and why
| Information | Purpose | Where it is handled |
|---|---|---|
| IP address, requested URL, browser information and request timing | Deliver pages, protect the site and diagnose service problems | Hosting and delivery providers, including Cloudflare |
| Theme preference and whether article feedback has been used | Remember your display choice and avoid showing the same feedback prompt again | Your browser’s local storage |
| Your email address, message and attachments, if you contact us | Respond to questions, corrections, privacy requests or content concerns | The wiki operator and email service providers |
| Browser and device information sent when external media is requested | Display article video thumbnails or play a video you choose to watch | YouTube / Google under their own policies |
Hosting and delivery
The site uses Cloudflare for hosting and delivery. Requests to the website may expose information such as your IP address, requested pages, browser details and referring page to the providers delivering and protecting the site.
Cloudflare’s processing and retention of service data are described in its own privacy policy. Hosting request information is separate from an optional visitor-analytics integration.
Browser storage
The site uses local storage to remember your light, dark or black theme preference. Article feedback stores only an acknowledgement that you used the feedback buttons on that page; the current feedback feature does not send a vote to a server.
These preferences remain in your browser until you clear the site’s data or your browser removes them. You can clear them through your browser’s site-data settings. Guides remain readable, although your preferences and feedback acknowledgement will reset.
Embedded YouTube videos
The homepage first displays a locally hosted image. It does not load the YouTube player until you click the cover or activate it with the keyboard. Some article video covers are downloaded from YouTube’s image service, which can receive your IP address and browser information when a cover is requested.
When you choose to play a video, the page loads a YouTube player from youtube-nocookie.com using Privacy Enhanced Mode. YouTube / Google then receives the information needed to deliver and operate the player and may use cookies or browser storage under its own policies. Privacy Enhanced Mode does not mean that playing a video is anonymous or free of all third-party processing. YouTube may also show advertising within its own player.
You can read the surrounding guides without playing videos. Following a YouTube link opens a service operated by Google under its own terms and privacy policy.
Analytics, advertising and comments
This version of the website does not enable Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google AdSense, Adsterra advertising or Giscus comments. There is no analytics or advertising consent prompt in this configuration.
If these services are introduced, the applicable disclosures on this page will be updated with the enabled features.
Email enquiries and retention
If you email us, we use the address, message and any attachments you provide to handle your enquiry and keep the necessary correspondence. Do not send passwords, payment details or other unnecessary sensitive information.
We retain correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the enquiry, follow up on a correction or content concern, or meet an applicable obligation. Hosting, email and video providers apply their own retention practices.
We do not sell the information you send directly to the wiki operator or use it for unrelated marketing. We may disclose information when necessary to provide the site, handle a request, protect its security or meet an applicable legal requirement.
Your choices and requests
You can avoid embedded playback, clear browser-stored preferences and contact us about personal information you have sent to us. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or other limits on processing of information we control.
Send privacy requests to support@thewitchsbakery.online. We may ask for the minimum information needed to identify the relevant correspondence and verify the request. Data held independently by a third-party provider may require a request to that provider.
The site does not ask children to register or submit personal information. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent us unnecessary personal information, please contact us so we can review it.
International services and policy changes
Hosting, email and video services may process information in countries other than your own. Their linked policies explain their handling of international transfers.
We may revise this policy when the website’s practices change. The last-updated date above identifies the version published here.
